Abstract | Until 1983 the Collection Development Department of the Library was known as the Bibliographic Services Department. It evolved as staff were needed to assist the Chief Bibliographer in the selection of materials and management of book funds. The position of Chief Bibliographer was established in 1957. Records of the Collection Development Department consist mainly of correspondence and other files of the Library's Chief Bibliographer, including historical files, 1933-1981, pertaining to cooperative collection development agreements between the libraries at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Duke University. Also included are other files of the Library's Collection Development Department, formerly the Bibliographic Services Department. |
