The Alumni Association of the School of Information and Library Science (School of Library Science until 1987) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill was founded in 1936 as the North Carolina Library School Association. It assists the school in welcoming new students and in providing scholarship support, internship opportunities, career information, and job placement notices. It also publishes (jointly with the school) a newsletter, News from Chapel Hill, and sponsors reunions of school alumni at major professional association meetings. Very soon after its establishment, the association began publishing a Bulletin, which apparently ceased during the 1960s and was succeeded by News from Chapel Hill in 1972.
For more information on the history of the Association, see back issues of the Bulletin and News from Chapel Hill in the North Carolina Collection.
