Abstract | The Botany Library and the Zoology Library were established at the University of North Carolina in the 1930s to support the curricula of the Department of Botany and the Department of Zoology. In 1982, the two departments merged to form the Department of Biology. On 1 July 1988, the John N. Couch Library (botany) and the Zoology Library merged to form the John N. Couch Biology Library, which, in 2010, was absorbed into the Kenan Science Library. Records include correspondence, memoranda, annual and administrative reports, book fund reports, and other materials related to the administration of the John N. Couch Biology Library and the libraries that preceeded it. There are also a few annual and other reports of the Department of Biology. Files are those of William R. Burk, who was head of the John N. Counch Library (botany) and, later, the merged John N. Couch Biology Library. |
