Abstract | Robert L. Harris, Jr. (1924-2014) joined the United States Public Health Service in 1949. After earning a master's degree in Environmental Sciences from Harvard University and a PhD in Environmental Sciences and Engineering at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he joined the faculty at UNC-CH's Gillings School of Public Health in 1973. There, he managed the Occupational Health Studies Group and managed a number of significant public health research projects focused on worker health and air quality and the environment. He also served as a member of the North Carolina Environmental Management Commission. Papers include correspondence, presentations, research, teaching files, and documentation of Harris's work on various boards, committees, and projects related to occupational health and the environment. |
