Abstract | Frank A. Daniels (Frank Arthur Daniels Jr., born 1931) of Raleigh, N.C., was president and publisher of the Raleigh News and Observer and a civic and business leader. His father, Frank A. Daniels Sr., and his grandfather, Josephus Daniels, were also publishers of the News and Observer. The collection consists of 812 negatives and 14 prints that primarily depict the Daniels family. The bulk of the images date from the 1960s and 1970s and are portraits or family groups. Included are black-and-white and color negatives, original and copy, as well as a small number of black-and-white prints. |

Frank A. Daniels (Frank Arthur Daniels Jr., born 1931) of Raleigh, N.C., was president and publisher of the Raleigh News and Observer. He was a business and civic leader, serving on the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority and also on the Board of the Associated Press. His father, Frank A. Daniels Sr., and his grandfather, Josephus Daniels, were publishers of the News and Observer. Josephus Daniels was Secretary of the Navy, 1913-1921, and United States Ambassador to Mexico, 1933-1941.
