Quincy Sharpe Mills, a member of the 1907 senior class, was the original owner of the album. Holladay Studio (active 1890s to 1920s) was owned by Waller Holladay, originally of Va. Holladay was a prolific professional photographer of early Durham and specialized in university and college groups. Although headquartered in Durham, he also worked in Chapel Hill, Winston-Salem, and Roxboro, N.C.
Back to TopThe collection consists of a photograph album created by Holladay Studio of Durham, N.C. The photographs are portraits of the University of North Carolina's 1907 senior class. The first page contains a single portrait of UNC President Francis Preston Venable, and each page thereafter features two student portraits on both the recto and verso pages. The album is black with gold lettering on the cover. On the inside front cover there is an inscription by Quincy Sharpe Mills.
