Stephen D. Ramseur of Virginia was an officer in the United States and Confederate armies.

The collection contains letters, 1853-1864, from Stephen D. Ramseur (1837-1864), written from Davidson College in North Carolina, the United States Military Academy at West Point, and Civil War battlefields, to his wife, to Judge David Schenck (his brother-in-law), and other relatives. Also included are genealogical notes on the Wilfong, Ramseur, and related families, and later letters.
